The Great Hall - Oakham Castle, Rutland
St George's Barracks is situated between Edith Weston and North Luffenham in Rutland, which is the smallest county in England. It is situated on the south bank of Rutland Water almost central between the towns of Stamford to the east and Oakham to the west. Edith Weston is a small village, with one public house, a small amenities shop, a Church of England Church and a primary school. Service personnel and their families form a large percentage of the local population. North Luffenham village is approximately 5 minutes drive away from the camp; it is also a small village with 2 public houses, a shop, a Church of England Church and a primary school.
At St George's Barracks there is a gymnasium and swimming pool, which is available for use not only by the service personnel but their dependants too. There is also a new Community Centre on camp with a large newly refurbished child's soft play area and internet suite, which also has an e fax-bluey and webcam facility. The Community Development Worker and HIVE Information Officer are located in this building.
