Key achievements to date:
  • Uplift of payments made under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme which has doubled the tax-free lump sum payment for the most serious injuries.
  • IVF Stability - enabling Service families to remain in one location (where possible) whilst undergoing assisted conception on the NHS.
  • Priority access to Affordable Homes Schemes for seriously injured personnel in Wales and Scotland.
  • Extended access to Affordable Homes Schemes enabling Service leavers to access the schemes for a further 12 months on leaving the Armed Forces.
  • The launch of a £20M MOD Pilot Scheme designed to help Serving personnel to purchase their own home.
  • Disregard of AFCS/War Pension Scheme Payments when applying for the Affordable Housing schemes and social housing.
  • Improved school place allocation and fair access protocols to ensure Service children obtain a school place when moving to a new location.
  • Dependants of Foreign and Commonwealth personnel now able to seek settlement and unmarried partners/same-sex partners able to apply for permission to enter or remain in the UK for up to four years. Dependants who gain settlement can now pay Home Fees and receive Student Support.
