The Headquarters Surgeon General (HQ SG) is the headquarters for the Defence Medical Services.
Surgeon General is the professional head of the Defence Medical Services (DMS) and the Process Owner for end to end (E2E) Defence healthcare and medical operational capability.
Deputy Chief of Defence Staff (Health) is responsible for setting the strategy and its associated policies for the Defence Medical Services (DMS). He reports to the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff.
HQ SG has various outputs that include Healthcare, Dental Services, Secretariat, Medical Operations & Plans, Medical Strategy & Policy, Inspector General, and Communications.
Personnel from all 3 services work alongside civil servants to provide the "Provision of strategic direction to the Defence Medical Services to ensure coherent delivery of all medical outputs".
