Defence Postgraduate Medical Deanery (DPMD)

Introduction

Welcome to the Defence Postgraduate Medical Deanery website.

This site is designed to provide you with key information to help support you through your training programme and provide you with the opportunity to provide feedback on your training and share best practice with colleagues.

About Us

The Deanery was first established at Gosport in 1996 and moved to Edgbaston in 2002. The following year saw the establishment of the Director of Postgraduate General Practice Education. In March 2010, the Deanery relocated to Whittington Barracks, Lichfield, the new home of the Defence Medical Services.

Since its creation, the Defence Deanery has been the main focus for postgraduate training not just of doctors but also of nurses, dentists, vets and the members of the allied health professions. The main remit of the Defence Deanery is to oversee, quality assure and at times provide training that meets both the needs of the Services and the relevant national bodies.
