Army Medical Services (AMS)

The Army Medical Services (AMS) contribute to the fighting strength and morale of the Army.

It is headed by the Director General Army Medical Services (DGAMS) Major General Hawley at the Army Medical Directorate (AMD), his role is to promote the effective medical, dental and veterinary services for the Army and provide a policy focus for individual medical training, doctrine, force deployment.

The Royal Army Medical Corp and members of the Army Medical Services provide the largest numbers of staff to the Defence Medical Services and run many of the Field Hospitals which is a large capability of the Defence Medical Services.

The Army Medical Services consists of the :
Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC)
Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC)
Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC)
Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corp (QARANC)
Army Primary Health Care Services
