This is our contribution towards the Defence Vision of producing battle winning armed forces and equipment that are ready for the challenge of today, ready for the tasks of tommorow and capable of building for the future.
DE&S is responsible for the through-life approach to equipment procurement and support, and the creation of an improved service to our front line customers. This means that we manage defence equipment from before it is brought into service until when it goes out of service.
Our many programmes range from defence clothing and ammunition, to armoured vehicles, ships and aircraft. We also manage the defence joint support chain, information systems and naval bases.
OUR ROLE
Support to current and future operations is our highest priority.
The core output of DE&S is the delivery of through-life project management and support to operations. The primary role of other parts of the organisation is to support project teams in delivering this output.
DE&S focuses on being an intelligent 'decider' to an industry provider, rather than providing services ourselves.
We currently manage around 1,900 new equipment and equipment support projects, ranging from ships, aircraft and armoured vehicles to clothing, fuel and medical supplies.
