Munitions, International and Torpedoes Pillar

The Munitions, International and Torpedoes Pillar (MIT) oversees general munitions, torpedoes and international weapons capability project teams.

The Munitions, International and Torpedoes Pillar comprises four Project Teams. These manage general munitions, torpedoes, international weapons capability within the Weapons Operating Centre.

Current activity

  • Defence General Munitions – procures and manages general munitions, explosives and countermeasures for all three Services.
  • Freefall - provides an all-weather, air-launched freefall weapons capability and supports all variants of the Paveway weapon system
  • International Guns Rockets & Missiles – responsible for procuring and providing in-service support for a range of weapons for the British Army, Royal Navy and RAF
  • Torpedoes, Tomahawk and Harpoon - provides capable, cost effective equipment and support for Torpedoes, Tomahawk cruise missiles and Harpoon missiles for operations now and in the future
