The Engineering Pillar provides assurance within the Weapons Operating Centre and to other MOD customers for product integrity, and for ordnance, munitions and explosives safety it also provides Test and Evaluation services and facilities for the whole of the MOD.
Current activity
- The Defence Ordnance Safety Group (DOSG) is the MOD focal point for ordnance, munitions and explosives (OME) safety. DOSG provides policy, advice and regulatory functions on behalf of the Secretary of State and monitors departmental performance to provide assurance on OME safety.
- Trials, Evaluation Services and Targets Team is responsible for overseeing the management and delivery of trials and evaluation across the MOD. The team is also responsible for managing the Long Term Partnering Agreement for Trials, Evaluation and Training services and the Combined Aerial Targets Service (CATS) contracts, both with QinetiQ. It also manages a number of Target Systems for use with the UK Armed Forces.
- The Engineering Team provides assurance, quality, airworthiness, environmental and safety and WOME skills services for the Weapons Operating Centre.
