Head of Commercial - Submarines

Responsible for providing commercial advice and support to all submarine operating centre commercial staff.

The Head of Commercial is responsible for the Submarine Operating Centre commercial strategy and the leadership and professional development of all commercial function staff within the Operating Centre. All Operating Centre commercial licences are issued by the Head of Commercial. In addition, the Head of Commercial provides cross-cutting assurance and coherence for all commercial arrangements placed in the Operating Centre.

Our Role

We provide commercial acumen to Submarine Operating Centre’s procurements and ensure coherency and value for money are in place prior to agreement and placement of commercial deals. Support to the Royal Naval Submarine Fleet is provided by ensuring timeliness of contract placement for all submarine-related good services and support.

What we do.

The Head of Commercial Submarines and outer office are responsible for the submarine operating centre commercial strategy which includes providing the leadership and assurance for the placement of commercial deals in support of the following project teams:

  • In Service Submarines: Upkeep and Maintenance of all in service submarines
  • Submarine Production: Bringing into service the ASTUTE class submarines
  • Future Submarines: Delivering the future deterrent
  • Nuclear Propulsion: Provision and maintenance of cores in support of the current and future deterrent programmes
  • Strategic Weapons: Provision and maintenance of strategic weapons systems

In addition, the Head of Commercial Submarines provides commercial leadership and assurance for all submarine-related [or associated] requirements placed at Clyde and Devonport Naval Bases and at Rosyth Docktard.
