The Light Weapons, Photographic and Batteries Team procures and supports small arms, portable power capability and imagery.

The Light Weapons, Photographic and Batteries Team procures and supports small arms and is a focal point for managing portable power and imagery requirements.

The team manages projects and programmes to deliver new capabilities and upgrade existing equipments to the time, cost and performance requirements agreed with the sponsor.

Current activities

The Lethality Team is responsible for dismounted small arms from personal defence to crew served support weapons, supporting in-service weapon systems and procuring new to service capability. It also plans for Soldier System Lethality, a programme to supply a family of small arms to meet the future requirements of the dismounted soldier.

The Photographic Team is responsible for all tri-service photographic equipment from the camera, lenses, storage devices, image manipulation software and hardware and printing. It supports current in-service systems, procures new technology and provides technical assistance to all front line commands.

The Batteries Team is responsible for the tri-service supply of specialist and commercial standard batteries, portable battery conditioning, charging systems and health monitoring. It is also responsible for exploiting new battery technology and chemistries and advises other teams on the appropriate chemistry, qualification requirements, storage and disposal of batteries and selection of industrial suppliers.
