Individual Soldier System Executive (ISSE)

The Integrated Soldier System Executive improves lethality, survivability and agility through optimal integration of individual combat equipment.

The ISSE has four key roles.

  • To improve soldier agility and fightability, the main focus being a reduction in the weight burden.
  • To manage sometimes disparate projects as a single programme and adopting proper programme management principles.
  • To better exploit technology and to bring the effects of research into the front line more rapidly.
  • To integrate all the soldier equipment both internally within the soldier system and also externally to other systems with which the soldier interfaces, such as vehicles.
