The Dismounted Soldier Systems Team is responsible for soldier modernisation and STANO equipment. The team manages projects and programmes to deliver new capabilities and upgrade existing equipments to the time, cost and performance requirements agreed with the sponsor.

Current Activities

The Soldier Modernisation Team is at the forefront of the UK’s soldier modernisation effort, primarily through the Future Integrated Soldier Technology (FIST) programme, a long term, incremental strategy to bring the dismounted soldier within the network enabled domain, enhancing his ability to conduct tactical activities and making a step change in operational capability possible.

The STANO Team is responsible for dismounted optical, thermal imagery and image intensifying devices, supporting in-service systems from weapons sights to specialist battlegroup level equipments. It also procures new to service capability such as Surveillance Systems and Range Finder, a replacement capability for legacy systems, with enhanced capability and greatly reduced weight and logistic burden.
