Our role

To provide capable, sustainable and available platforms to support current and future operations.

Background

CTG Platforms Team works closely with the Systems Team and was formed in April 2009 from the Armoured Fighting Vehicles Group Heavy/Medium/Light Armoured Systems teams.

What we do

The Platforms Team manages 4,759 vehicles which include:

FV430 (BULLDOG) (1,200 vehicles)
The FV430 series of vehicles provides a tracked armoured vehicle capability providing protection against small arms fire. The vehicles have recently been fitted with an upgraded engine and transmission and the new vehicle is known as Bulldog.

SAXON PATROL (147 vehicles)
The SAXON was designed to provide wheeled, protected mobility against the threat of anti-personnel mines, small arms fire and shell splinters. The SAXON Patrol variant was specifically designed for use as an internal security and public order vehicle.

PANTHER (401 vehicles)
Panther is a wheeled command and liaison Vehicle which is protected against small arms, blast and anti-personnel mines. A number of vehicles are fitted with self-defence weapon that can be operated under armour to provide suppressive fire.

BV206 (406 vehicles)
The BV206 is a fully amphibious multi-role all terrain carrier.

ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE (PROTECTED) (ATV(P)) BVS10 VIKING (129 vehicles)
Viking is a protected fully amphibious all terrain vehicle which was introduced into service to replace some of the capability provided by BV206 with a protected High Mobility platform.

BRV (4 vehicles)
The Beach Recovery Vehicle (BRV) is based on a Leopard 1 hull that has been modified to stop the ingress of salt water and allow the vehicle to operate in the marine environment. The primary role of the BRV is to recover failed or drowned vehicles to the beach and re-float beached landing craft.

TROJAN AND TITAN (T2) ( 33 Titan/33 Trojan)
Titan and Trojan are being procured to provide Royal Engineer regiments in the British Army with a protected breaching, dozing and bridge-laying capability. Trojan is designed to open routes through complex battlefield obstacles and clear a path through minefields. Titan can lay a selection of close support bridges, providing a capability to cross gaps of up to 60m.

CHALLENGER ARMOURED REPAIR AND RECOVERY VEHICLE (CRARRV) (81 vehicles)
CRARRV is the British Army’s main heavy armoured recovery vehicle. It has two winches and a hydraulically operated crane capable of lifting a complete Challenger 2 power pack.

CHALLENGER 2 (345 vehicles)
The British Army’s main battle tank, equipped with a 120 mm gun.

WARRIOR (785 vehicles)
