Disposal Services Authority (DSA)

The Disposal Services Authority has delegated authority to dispose of all UK MOD surplus equipment in the UK and overseas.

The Disposal Services Authority provide:

  • A comprehensive portfolio covering everything from advice and consultancy, to the provision of a total managed service.

  • Dedicated contractors who supply a collect-to-dispose service, and offer a wide range of refurbished items for sale.

  • Contractors who are incentivised to maximise the return on surplus and used assets and so provide an additional income stream to Defence Equipment & Support Organisation.

The DSA was recognised by 2nd PUS as a Core Shared Service available for the Public Sector

DSA Quick Facts

Less than 2% of surplus handled by DSA’s Contractors goes to landfill (currently 78% of UK waste goes to landfill)


Over £859M in receipts has been generated over the last 14 years by the DSA with over 50% of this from sale of small items (e.g. socks, PCs etc.)
