Located throughout the UK and Northern Germany DSDA manages a range of storage, processing and distribution tasks on behalf of its customers in defence and industry. DSDA is a key enabler within the Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation and is strategically placed at the centre of the Defence Supply Chain. DSDA and has evolved to provide a unique portfolio of services that are specifically tailored to the Defence supply industry which is why DSDA is the preferred supplier to some of the biggest names in defence.

The Defence Storage and Distribution Agency (DSDA) is an Enhanced Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and is the storage and distribution arm of the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) organisation. The role of the Agency is to store, maintain, issue, process and distribute materiel for the MoD and other designated users.

The DSDA Vision.

'A customer driven, commercially aware, storage, distribution and processing organisation within the transformed Defence supply chain. Through working in collaboration with our staff, customers, consumers and the DE&S, we have a team that can meet in full the logistics challenges posed to the MoD in the 21st Century.'

DSDA plays a vital role in maintaining and supporting the operational readiness of the UK's Armed Forces. We aim to provide an effective and efficient service within the supply chain to comply with our mission:

To sustain the fighting power of the UK's armed forces worldwide by providing a storage processing and distribution service that meets the highest levels of professional excellence.

DSDA currently operates from 11 major storage and munitions sites in the UK and one in Germany. The Agency is the custodian of the UK’s stockpile of munitions and we provide unrivalled services for the processing of complex weapons. We have the facilities and skills to offer comprehensive support, including assembly and test, of the most sophisticated weapons systems deployed by the UK's Armed Forces.


The Defence Supply Chain

DSDA is the only Agency within the DE&S organisation and is strategically placed at the centre of the Defence Supply Chain providing the gateway to the MoD’s distribution network, known as the purple gate. DSDA also operates the link between the commercial and military supply systems. With visibility across the supply chain we provide a single point of contact for our customers through a 24/7 customer service desk.

We have developed a comprehensive range of capabilities and services on behalf of our customers in Defence and industry. We offer a total logistics support package that includes warehousing, distribution, in store maintenance, repair and refurbishment, processing and testing, as well as operating the reverse supply chain. Other services include: quality assurance and inspection, inventory control, specialist packaging, documentation, fast track distribution and Controlled Humidity Environment (CHE) for long term storage of vehicles.


Our Customers

Our customer base is made up of the Integrated Project Teams (IPT’s) within DE&S who manage the introduction of Defence materials to the MoD. DSDA is a key enabler within DE&S and our ability to manage our partnership between our customers and the Armed Forces is unique.

We take pride in being a transformed operation with both commercial acumen and the unique governance of an Executive Agency of the MoD. We are increasingly working with prime contractors and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) tailoring our services to meet their requirements. We offer access to the real benefits available from DSDA's support including: long term value for money, excellent quality and performance records and low risk solutions. The Agency acts as a sub-contractor for many Defence manufacturers in support of deployed equipment and systems and has become the preferred supplier to some of the biggest names in Defence.
