Defence Equipment and Support

Force Protection Team

The Force Protection Team is responsible for the capability to deter, detect or defeat Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).

To deter the emplacement of IEDs, Force Protection acquires and sustains a range of Base Protection surveillance and equipment for deployed operating bases. Where IEDs are in situ, the team provides the military working dogs capability plus infrastructure to support deployed troops on operations. Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) equipment, in both the vehicle and manpack configuration, are procured and sustained to allow safe passage of troops in theatre where there is a presence of active IEDs. Force Protection is also responsible for a range of shot detection assets.
