DE&S Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) Office

The DE&S Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) Office ensures that C-IED capability across DE&S is coherently generated and sustained.

IEDs remain the biggest threat to UK Forces operating in Afghanistan. The DE&S C-IED Office is charged with driving pace and coherence into delivery of C-IED Capability to improve overall C-IED effect. The Office provides decision support tools and advice for senior C-IED capability delivery Boards including maintenance of a C-IED Knowledge Base and provision of programme, requirements and system level improvement interventions. The Office provides a focal point within DE&S for delivery of C-IED Projects helping with resourcing and prioritisation issues and mitigating programme level risks. Effective links and relations are maintained across defence, the science and technology community, industry and partner nations to further enhance exploitable effect.
