Helicopter Engines team

The Helicopter Engines Team is responsible for managing the logisitcs and support of some 2,000 helicopter engines across 12 types for all three services.

The HE team is responsible for delivering an agreed range of outputs and services to the Platform Project Teams through Internal Business Agreements (IBA) which contribute to the higher level Joint Business Agreements (JBA) between the Platform PTs and the Front Line Commands such as JHC, Navy and Air.

The total engine fleet size the HE PT support is in the order of 2000 engines in some 12 type/mark variants flying in excess of 150000 hours per year. From a technological standpoint engines range from the relatively new (RTM322 fitted to Merlin and Apache helicopters) to the more legacy engines (Turmo fitted to Puma, Gnome fitted to Sea King) which have been in service for over 30 years.

The team comprises of approximately 70 RN, RAF, Army and Civilian personnel, primarily based in Gazelle House at RNAS Yeovilton.
