Helicopter Engines Project Team

The Helicopter Engines Team is responsible for managing the logistics and support of some 2,000 helicopter engines across 12 types for all three services.

The Helicopter Engines Project Team delivers a range of outputs and services to the Platform Project Teams in support of the front line commands, including Joint Helicopter Command, the Royal Navy, the Army and the RAF. 

The Helicopter Engines team supports around 2,000 engines in some 12 type/mark variants flying more than 150,000 hours per year.

From a technological standpoint engines range from the relatively new (RTM322 fitted to Merlin and Apache helicopters) to the more legacy engines (Turmo fitted to Puma, Gnome fitted to Sea King) which have been in service for more than 30 years.

The team comprises of around 70 Royal Navy, RAF, Army and civilian personnel, primarily based in Gazelle House at RNAS Yeovilton.
