Salvage and Marine Operations also provide these services to other Government Departments, including Environment, Home Office, and Transport and the regions. It is also responsible for the maritime salvage of all UK-registered civil aircraft as requested by the civil Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
The Salvage and Marine Operations Team’s work is defined by the MOD Endorsed Salvage Policy (ESP) and a number of business agreements with military operational Commanders. The brief is wide-ranging but covers primarily:
- Marine salvage of vessels and aircraft.
- Heavy lift operations.
- Operational moorings including floating fuel terminals.
- Blue water towing operations.
- Underwater engineering repair operations.
- Port clearance.
- Wreck management.
- MOD civilian diving operations
