Director Submarines

The Submarines Operating Centre delivers the submarine programme, achieved through the following specialist areas:

• The Chief Strategic Systems Executive which delivers a robust deterrent programme. (Responsible to 1st Sea Lord to provide UK’s Independent Nuclear Deterrent)
• The Head of Programmes who defines the coherent Submarine programme
• The Head of Commercial who provides Commercial leadership
• The Finance Team Leader who provides financial information and guidance to the Operating Centre
• The Chief Engineer who co-ordinates availability of the engineering resources (standards, people, safety & technology) and delivers the Combat Systems programme
• The Human Resources Business Partner team who are responsible for HR assurance and overseeing the development of our people
• The Business Support Team who are responsible for business management, including communications, flexible resourcing, (transferring people to work where they are needed) collocation and delivering the change programme (allowing us to improve continuously)

And project teams:

• Submarines – In Service, responsible for support to all in-service submarines
• Submarines – Production, responsible for delivering Astute class submarines
• Submarines – Future, responsible for delivering the successor deterrent submarine
• Nuclear Propulsion, responsible for design, through life support and authorisation of Naval Nuclear Propulsion plants
• Strategic Weapons who provide the Strategic Weapon System for the deterrent programme
