Defence Equipment and Support

Director Helicopters

The Director Helicopters Operating Centre aims to deliver safe and professional, timely and cost effective helicopter operational capability to the Armed Forces.

Helicopters play a major role in UK military operations, in a range of environments such as urban and desert areas in Iraq, the mountains and deserts of Afghanistan and the jungles of Sierra Leone.

In order to be an effective component of a balanced expeditionary force our helicopters need to meet these challenging environmental demands, have high levels of reliability and availability and require minimal deployed support equipment and infrastructure.

Director Helicopters plays a pivotal role in helping meet these requirements and the evolving needs of commanders in theatre, including the delivery of new helicopters, enhancement of existing aircraft, and the provision of a support infrastructure that ensures maximum effect can be delivered at the front line.
