Mission and Vision:
Delivering Typhoon capability, through-life, for the RAF

Our Role:
Management and co-ordination of the UK’s acquisition of and in-service support to the Typhoon aircraft for the RAF.

Typhoon Team is responsible for:

  • Management of all acquisition programmes within the Typhoon programme, including the development and production, of future capability and Aircrew Synthetic Training Aids (ASTA) programmes.
  • Management of the support elements of the programme and the development and management of strategies which aim to support Typhoon throughout its operational life, including Integrated Logistics Support and Supply Chain Management.
  • Through-life management of the Typhoon Weapon System (Avionics, General Systems & Structures, Propulsion and Information Systems) and for the integration of weapons onto the aircraft platform.
  • Co-ordinating the output of the Typhoon Team, to maximise the flying programme and operational activities, ensuring delivery of needs of the day and the meeting of longer term strategic objectives.

Typhoon Key Events

July 2008 – Multi-Role capability declared

October 2008 – Tranche 2 deliveries commenced

December 2008 – Release-to-Service achieved for Tranche 2 aircraft

March 2009 – Typhoon Availability Service (TAS) contract signed

July 2009 – Tranche 3 contract signed
