Defence Public Key Infrastructure (DPKI)

Public Service Description

The DPKI X.509 Certificate Policy Version 3.0 (dated 8 October 08 | OID 1.2.826.0.1310.100.3) provides a full description of the DPKI and the Defence Root Certification Authority (DRCA) role.

The DRCA provides Trust Services for the Defence environment and is the ultimate trust point for the DPKI.  It provides support to authentication, integrity, confidentiality and non-repudiation services through the use of X.509 certificates.

The DPKI Trust Service (using the DRCA as its root) is a pan-MoD provision that will be available to all MoD recognised projects, applications, services and entities that require it subject to approval from DPKI Policy Management Authority (DPMA) .  Through interoperability, the DPKI will extend its Trust Services to Organisations and Nations that the MoD has a business or operational requirement, such as NATO, the US DoD and TSCP.

The DRCA maintains the Root private signing key for the DPKI.  It provides all sub-ordinate CA’s with their Public and Private keys that are embedded into certificates.  It also issues Authority Revocation Lists (ARL) on a monthly basis to these CA’s as well as emergency ARL’s when required.

A strict process is followed to ensure the identity of those who request sub-ordinate certificates or emergency revocations and a validation process is invoked to ensure that they are authorised to do so.

H&S Guidance for Contractors at HMNB Devonport

The contents of this guide are intended to highlight some of the main hazards which contractors are likely to encounter when working in the Naval Base and aboard ship. In order to comply with The Health & Safety At Work etc. Act 1974, it is essential that adequate preventative measures are in place to eliminate or reduce the risks from these hazards to a level that is as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP).

This document applies to and must be brought to the attention of all contractors undertaking work in HM Naval Base Devonport. Contractors working within areas controlled by Babcock must also comply with Babcock requirements.

Joint Engagement Group Coherence Report Final Report

The LCIA Coherence Project (Jan - Apr 2006) jointly defined with Industry the rules, tools and standards for MoD and Industry to accelerate transformation of end-to-end logistic information capability. It defined a joint architecture together with an agreed compliance regime. This defined a structure for delivery across Industry and the MoD of information capabilities in support of the full range of logistics support arrangements, so that they can be integrated (at minimum cost and risk) with current and future MoD and Industry systems.

It also defines the responsibilities of the key stakeholders in the acquisition process and specifies the required methodology for assuring the Secretary of State for Defence that the arrangements for OME safety and environment are consistent with his safety policy statement.
