The Bell 212 HP Ah Mk1 helicopter is a variant of the Bell UH-1 family of military helicopter, designed and built by Bell Helicopter Textron (BHT) of Fort Worth, Texas.

It has a 2 bladed main rotor, 2 bladed tail rotor and is powered by two Pratt and Whitney Canada Corps PT6T-3B Twin-Pac free turbine turbo shaft power plant developing 1800 shaft horsepower.

The cockpit is designed for single-pilot operations and the aircraft can be configured to seat up to 14 passengers, 13 in cabin and one in the cockpit left-hand seat.

The aircraft are provisioned under a Civil Owned Military Registered contract arrangement for use by 7 Flt AAC in support of the Brunei Garrison, 25 Flt AAC in support of the British Army Training Support Unit Belize and JHC at Middle Wallop for aircrew training.

The aircraft can be used in the following roles depending on the role equipment fitted:
  • Casualty Evacuation
  • Troop transport or passenger carriage
  • Freight carriage (internal and external)
  • Training
  • Rescue
