DJs Dusty Miller and Dave Simon will begin BFBS Radio's 'Operation Christmas' at 0630hrs Afghanistan time (0200hrs in the UK) on Christmas Day and aim to broadcast hundreds of messages before their festive finale at 1630hrs (midday in the UK).
Dusty Miller, speaking from his studio at Camp Bastion said:
"Our audience doesn't stop working on Christmas Day so neither do we.
"They might be able to take a short break for Christmas lunch in the cookhouse or to sing a few carols but they'll remain on duty and on Christmas Day it's even more important than ever that BFBS Radio is here in Afghanistan to broadcast their messages."
Dave Simon has recently been to visit troops on the frontline in Sangin Province and their stories and messages will be aired from 0730hrs UK time.
'Operation Christmas' will also include carols from Camp Bastion and messages from the Chief of the Defence Staff, the three service chiefs and the Bishop to the Armed Forces.
