Soldier from the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers killed in Afghanistan

It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that a soldier from 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday 15 August 2009.

The soldier died as a result of injuries sustained in an explosion that happened while on a foot patrol near Sangin, northen HelmandĀ province.

Next of kin have been informed and have asked for a period of grace before further details are released.
