Soldier from The Parachute Regiment killed in Afghanistan

It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce that a soldier from The Parachute Regiment, was killed in Afghanistan yesterday, Tuesday 22 December 2009.

The soldier died as a result of a suspected Improvised Explosive Device while on a foot patrol about 1km south of Sangin, central Helmand Province, yesterday afternoon.
Next of kin have been informed and have asked for a period of grace before further details are released.
