Soldier from 1 R ANGLIAN killed in Afghanistan

It is with sadness that the Ministry of Defence must announce that a soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment was killed in Afghanistan on Friday 15 June 2012.

This was published under the 2010 to 2015 Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government

The soldier was part of an operation to disrupt insurgent activity in the Nad ‘Ali district of Helmand province when he was killed by enemy action.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand Major Ian Lawrence said:

It is with deep sorrow that I must confirm that a soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment has been killed by enemy action whilst deployed on operations in the Nad ‘Ali district of Helmand province.

The thoughts of all within Task Force Helmand are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

The soldier’s family have been informed and they have asked for a period of grace before further details are released.
