Royal Marine killed in Helmand

The Royal Marine was killed as a result of an explosion in an area to the north west of Lashkar Gah. He was taking part in a routine move, following operations in the district of Nad-e-Ali.

Spokesperson for Task Force Helmand, Commander Paula Rowe, said:

"The loss of this Royal Marine will be keenly felt by the whole of Task Force Helmand. Our sincere and deepest sympathies go out to his family, friends and comrades at this terrible time."

Next of kin have been informed and have asked for a period of grace before further details are released.
