The venue for this stunning exhibition of military photography was the Imperial War Museum and the event was hosted by HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO.

More than one hundred supporters of the charity SSAFA Forces Help, (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) attended.

After viewing the photographs and exhibits, guests took part in an auction for a series of master works donated to the charity. These included pieces by photojournalist Tom Stoddart featuring Royal Marines during Operation Telic, and the iconic photograph 'Big Bang' by Brian Griffin.

At the end of the evening each guest was given one of the limited edition prints from the exhibition to take home. The subjects of the prints ranged from current operations, to military equipment and photographic portraits.

The event raised thousands of pounds for the charity and SSAFA Chairman Sir Robin Ross said:

"We're delighted by the success of this evening and we’re looking forward to following it with an even bigger event next year."

The money raised will be used to help SSAFA to continue work in support of families connected to Britain’s Armed Forces.

SSAFA Forces Help is the national charity helping the serving and ex-Service men, women and their families in need. We estimate that one quarter of the population is eligible for our help.

Through a network of more than 7,000 trained volunteers, 500 in-Service volunteers on HM bases around the world and over 400 professionals in the UK and overseas, the association helps over 50,000 people each year.
