The event helped to ensure that representatives from current and prospective contractors are kept up to date with the programme's latest developments.

NGEC is a Defence Estates (DE) programme to identify the most cost effective mix of estate contract models to meet the future needs of Defence. It considers a number of potential procurement vehicle options including Prime Contracting, Stand Alone contracts and Framework arrangements.

The NGEC industry engagement seminar sought industry views and comments on the programme, as well as indicating its next steps. The fully-subscribed event was attended by 130 delegates from the defence, construction and facilities management industries.

DE Chief Executive Vice Admiral Tim Laurence gave the welcoming address. New NGEC Programme Director Steve Rice then introduced himself to delegates.

Representatives from the customer community and DE senior managers engaged in a panel debate and took part in discussions with delegates in networking sessions.

The audience heard a recap on NGEC's background and a run-through of each of the Contract Model Options. They also received the findings from reviews of procurement options for the Defence Training Estate, Housing and Single Living Accommodation.

Steve Rice, NGEC Programme Manager, said

"We need to ensure that the future contracts are the best deal for MOD and structured so that industry is able to deliver our requirements in the most cost effective way. This seminar demonstrated the level of openness and willingness from Industry to work with us in achieving these aims."
