RAF Kinloss is situated on the Moray coast along with its sister station RAF Lossiemouth.  Kinloss is approximately 3 miles from the small town of Forres and 27 miles east of Inverness.  The nearest shopping town is Elgin 12 miles away.  

Moray is a picturesque county with miles of beautiful beaches, forests and mountains along with many golf courses and distilleries.  This area is renowned for the various outdoor pursuits available, be it on land, sea or air.  

There are 3 SFA patches at Kinloss, Northside, Muirton (behind the wire) and the Officers’ quarters at Burnside.  Some of our families are also housed in Elgin.  There is a primary school at Kinloss and 3 others in Forres. All these schools feed into Forres Academy.   

The domestic site hosts a number of facilities including a gymnasium, swimming pool and hairdressers.  The Kinloss Activities Building has a coffee shop, thrift shop, craft shop, Peek – A – Boo Crèche, Koalas parents group and the HIVE office.  

There is a regular bus service to Elgin, Forres and further afield to Aberdeen and Inverness.  The nearest railway station is Forres and there are 2 airports; Inverness and Aberdeen.
