Edinburgh Dreghorn HIVE is situated on the southside of Edinburgh within Dreghorn Barracks. The resident battalion is the 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, The Royal Scots Borderers. Nearby, Redford Barracks houses the 3rd Battalion The Rifles. Others include 150 RMP, 52 Brigade at Edinburgh Castle/Redford Barracks and many other attached personnel including TA Units.

Local amenities are excellent while a wider range of shopping and entertainment facilities are easily accessed from the nearby Edinburgh City Bypass. There is a frequent bus service with buses serving many parts of Edinburgh including the City Centre.
Edinburgh itself is a beautiful city with many tourist attractions including the Castle and Holyrood Palace.

The community centre in Dreghorn Barracks hosts "Mums and Tots", youth clubs, coffee mornings and lots more. The Army Learning Centre has a Satellite Access Point which soldiers and their dependents can use for learning or internet access.In Dreghorn Barracks there is a swimming pool and gym which is open to all soldiers and their dependents. The gym, which has two squash courts, can be used for football, circuit training, badminton and various other sports. A weights room and multi-gym can also be found there.

27 AEC Centre and the Army Learning Centre are located at Redford Barracks. There is also a gym with the same facilities as Dreghorn and an all weather football pitch.
