Ballykinler is situated on the southeast coast of Northern Ireland. It is a picturesque rural area right on the coast with a blue flag beach and is overlooked by the Mourne Mountains. Ballykinler village has limited resources. The nearest town is Downpatrick, which is approximately 7 miles away and provides us with a small selection of services, which include: shops, supermarkets, Hospital (with A&E), local college and leisure centre. Both Newcastle and Ballynahinch are approximately 15miles away in opposite directions and again offer a small selection of amenities. Our nearest City is Lisburn (approximately 25 miles), which is an up and coming area with a wide selection of amenities and facilities.
Within the camp there is a selection of facilities which includes: a swimming pool, gymnasium, Library, crèche/playgroup, small post office, Dunes Bar, Sandes restaurant, barbers and church. In the centre of the camp near to the family accommodation there is a NAAFI shop and also a families community centre, where many events are held both day and night. There is also a very well equipped Youth Club for children 4+.
