Community Care
If you think you may be entitled to support in caring for yourself or for someone else contact your local community care services for information on what can be provided and to arrange for an assessment of need.
You will be involved in the assessment procedure and given a written plan of your care. Remember social services make a charge for most social care in England and Wales, you will be told of any costs before accepting the services.
England, Scotland and Wales
In England, Scotland and Wales local councils are responsible for assessment for social care needs. They can also give advice and support to people who may receive care services from a range of voluntary, private and public organisations.
