Guidance on likelihood of meeting Special Educational Needs in SCE.

It is not possible to give a precise description of which special educational needs can and cannot be met in SCE schools.

SCE

This will depend on a number of factors e.g. the school’s location and the availability of SCE and other support services, the resources normally available to the school, the age of the child. It may nevertheless be helpful to give some indication of the likelihood that needs of different types and significance can be met in SCE schools. This is set out in the framework at Annex A to Chapter 6 of JSP 342

This places different types of need in three categories:

  • High probability that needs can be met
  • Medium, uncertain, or variable probability that needs can be met
  • Low probability that needs can be met
