Key Points
Packets are limited to 2kg in weight.
Size limits: Minimum one surface at least 90mm x 140mm. Maximum length + depth + width = 900mm width greatest single dimension not more than 600mm.
Only relatives and friends within the UK or at BFPO addresses can send packets to named Service personnel and MOD deployed civilians
ONLY, in authorised operational areas.
Items listed below should not be sent, please also refer to the list of prohibited items on the 'Mail Prohibitions' related page.
- Aerosols - prohibited by the BFPO mail network, e.g hairspray, deodorant etc.
- Perishable goods - foods like fruit and meat.
- Fragile Items - glass.
- Magazines containing images that might offend the cultural values of Host Nations, even if they are widely available in the UK - 'Top shelf' magazines for example.
Customers posting items under the Enduring Free Mail Service
MUST ENSURE that these items are physically handed over to a counter clerk at a UK Post Office or BFPO overseas.
Note 1: There is NO Parcel Service to Op HERRICK, Op KIPION and HM Ships in Support, however small boxes (shoe box size is ideal) can be sent as long as they weigh no more than 2kgs.
Note 2: This service is one-way ONLY, from the UK/BFPOs to Operational BFPOs or HM Ships in Support.

HM Revenue and Customs forms which are required for postal items to and from all BFPOs worldwide are:
Form CN22 - Packet to be used for goods up to the value of £270 (Inc BFPOs located inside the EU)
Form CN23 (inside a SP126 envelope) - Packet to be used for goods over £270 (Inc BFPOs located inside the EU)
