What other organisation puts you right at the heart of government?

We recruit everyone from administrators and statisticians to scientists and engineers, and our key task is to help Ministers carry out their responsibilities to Parliament and the public.

That means providing independent, impartial advice on key political and defence issues. It means keeping Ministers informed about relevant national and international developments.

And it means helping to formulate and direct the implementation of Defence policy in a range of areas.

It's an environment of enormous variety and scope - one that could involve you in advising ministers on the political aspects of military operations, or exploring ways to improve the management of our people, or even negotiating with our NATO allies on multinational cost- sharing arrangements.

The possibilities are endless. But whatever your specific challenges and responsibilities, your creativity and intellectual rigour will have a direct impact on the MOD's future development.

You will also gain a unique insight into decision-making at the highest levels, and benefit from extensive training and development opportunities that could include the chance to sharpen your skills at both the Joint Services Command & Staff College and the NATO Defence College.
