If you are selected for interview, you will be asked to bring either one item from the following list:
- A passport showing that the holder is a British citizen, or has a right of abode in the United Kingdom
- A document showing that the holder is a national of a European Economic Area country or Switzerland. This must be a national passport or national identity card
- A residence permit issued by the Home Office to a national from a European Economic Area country or Switzerland
- A passport or other document issued by the Home Office which has an endorsement stating that the holder has a current right of residence in the United Kingdom as the family member of a national from a European Economic Area country or Switzerland who is resident in the United Kingdom
- A passport or other travel document endorsed to show that the holder can stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom, or has no time limit on their stay
- A passport or other travel document endorsed to show that the holder can stay in the United Kingdom; and that this endorsement allows the holder to do the type of work we are offering if you do not have a work permit
- An Application Registration Card issued by the Home Office to an asylum seeker stating that the holder is permitted to take employment
Or one of the following combinations:
First Combination- a document giving the person's permanent National Insurance Number and name. This could be a: P45, P60, National Insurance card, or a letter from a Government agency. Plus one of the following documents listed in sections B-H
- a full birth certificate issued in the United Kingdom, which includes the names of the holder's parents; OR
- a birth certificate issued in the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland; OR
- a certificate of registration or naturalisation stating that the holder is a British citizen; OR
- a letter issued by the Home Office to the holder which indicates that the person in it can stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom, or has no time limit on their stay; OR
- an Immigration Status Document issued by the Home Office to the holder with an endorsement indicating that the person named in it can stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom, or has no time limit on their stay; OR
- a letter issued by the Home Office to the holder which indicates that the person named in it can stay in the United Kingdom, and this allows them to do the type of work you are offering; OR
- an Immigration Status Document issued by the Home Office to the holder with an endorsement indicating that the person named in it can stay in the United Kingdom, and this allows them to do the type of work you are offering
Second Combination- a work permit or other approval to take employment that has been issued by Work Permits UK. Along with a document issued by Work Permits UK, you must also bring one of the following documents listed at B-C:
- a passport or other travel document endorsed to show that the holder is able to stay in the United Kingdom and can take the work permit employment in question; OR
- a letter issued by the Home Office to the holder confirming that the person named in it is able to stay in the United Kingdom and can take the work permit employment in question
Why do we require this information?We need this information so that we can establish your identity and your rights to work in the Ministry of Defence. You must bring the original documentation with you to the interview. This will, however, be returned to you and copies will be retained as part of your applicant record.
You should also be aware that, if you are successful at interview, the information provided here will be forwarded to the Defence Vetting Agency to enable them to proceed with security clearance.
Security QuestionnaireAs explained on the questionnaire, before you can be regarded as being suitable for a post, the Civil Service Commission must be satisfied about your character.
The purpose of character enquiries is to determine:
- Whether you are likely to give satisfactory service in the future, and
- Whether there is anything in your recent past that might discredit the Department, or the Civil Service in general or which tends to suggest the likelihood of discreditable conduct in the future
Health DeclarationThe information in this questionnaire is required so that we can assess an applicant's fitness for a post. You should be aware that we do not set standards higher than can be justified in relation to the work and our obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 require us to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made in the work place to accommodate the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Principal Civil Service Pension Scheme (PCSPS) Health DeclarationAs explained on the questionnaire, to gain full membership of the pension scheme you must provide full details of your current and past health. The PCSPS may then take medical and, if necessary, actuarial advice to determine whether you can be accepted for ill-health retirement benefits in addition to other pension benefits.
