In line with the GCN ethos of integration and open competition, the majority of GCN posts in MoD are open to both cross-Government members of the GCN and 'mainstream' MoD civil servants. All applicants are assessed against the same professional competences and the job goes to the best candidate.
To ensure that neither group is disadvantaged by an unfamiliar application process, we have created a hybrid. Rather than completing 150 words on each the eight competences, you are asked to complete one 500 word statement explaining your suitability for the post. You are asked to provide a Career History but not a line manager's recommendation. You should find this less onerous than the standard GCN process.
This note will take you through the process. If you have any questions at all, please put them to either the line manager whose details appear on the advertisement, or to Mohammed Hussein, HR & Training Manager 020 72181383) and Sherma Julien, Business Manager (020 7218 7394).
