The Army School of Farriery is also part of Equine Training Squadron. The School is licensed by the Worshipful Company of Farriers and provides training for all Household Division and Kings Troop RHA Farriers. The Forge is arguably one of the best in the world and students undertake one of the longest apprenticeships of all Service personnel. Successful students frequently achieve grades with distinction awards from the governing body and they also compete at the highest level in national and international competitions.
The Army value their strong links with the Worshipful Company of Farriers, The Farriers Registration Council, The Farriers Training Service and National Association of Farriers, Blacksmiths and Agricultural Engineers. In fact the Worshipful Company of Farriers regularly use the Army School of Farriery facilities to hold their higher examinations bi-annually. The Farriers Training Service also use the Army School of Farriery facilities to run the civilian Approved Training Farrier shoemaking examinations.
