In accordance with directives laid down by Directorate General of Training and Education, TSW ensures DSL compliance to the Defence Systems Approach to Training Quality Standard (DSAT QS), being actively involved in the training design and development aspect, overseeing and internally validating the training delivery and working in conjunction with the DOLSU Intelligent Customer Cell (DOLSU-ICC) to complete the cycle through needs analysis and external validation.
Projects such as the Iraqi Dialect Module, which includes a 3-day task-based exercise, have demonstrated the hugely positive impact of the intelligent application of DSAT to language training. Current courses being reviewed are Arabic, Pashto, and Russian diploma courses.
The Ministry of Defence Languages Examinations Board (MODLEB) in partnership with the (University of Westminster) provides external examinations for all personnel who undergo defence language training. OC TSW is a member of the MODLEB Board and participates in all setting and moderating boards. This assessment system is currently under review.
In addition to providing reprographic support for routine tasks around DSL, the Graphics Department has been designing and producing interactive e-learning packages to support training. The most recent completed project is the Iraqi Cultural CD which supports the Iraqi Dialect Module.
