Logistics and Personnel Administration underpin every operation carried out by the Armed Forces, providing the backbone of effective military capability.
Created on the recommendation of the Defence Training Review (DTR), which aimed to rationalise and improve training across defence, The Defence College of Logistics and Personnel Administration(DCLPA) formed 1 April 2004. It is one of five Federated Defence Training Establishments, or Defence Colleges, that were established through an amalgamation of its predecessor single service Logistic and Personnel Administration schools.
Charged with responsibility for providing tri-Service Logistic and Personnel Administration training for the UK Armed Forces and their supporting elements, the college aim is to become a true centre of excellence for the delivery of integrated Defence Logistic and Personnel Administration training.
The College consists of 4 Schools: The Defence School of Transport (DST), The Defence School of Personnel Administration (DSPA), The Defence Logistics School (DLS) and The Defence Maritime Logistics School (DMLS).These schools are located over 11 dfferent sites around the UK, and run over 600 dfferent courses with a training capacity of approximately 50,000 students every year.
Course durations range from 3-day familiarisation packages to degree standard courses lasting over 12 months; all provide students with comprehensive high-quality instruction across the spectrum of training. This training is acknowledged to be some of the best in the world, which is reflected by national and international recognition and high pass rates in a wide range of accredited civilian professional examinations.
HQ DCLPA is located at The Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut, near Camberley in Surrey.
