Defence Equipment & Support Principal Security Advisor (DE&S PSyA)

Welcome to the DE&S Principal Security Adviser’s (PSyA) team home page.

The ISS team is located at Abbey Wood, Bristol.

The DE&S PSyA team is primarily located at Abbey Wood, Bristol with stations at Bath, Gosport, Henlow, Andover and Clyde.

We are responsible for providing relevant Defence Contractors with up to date Security and Business Continuity policy and guidance. The PSyA team provides specialist and relevant advice to reduce security and business continuity risks and amplifies the MOD and government security policy requirements.  Our primary function is to provide security services, along with guidance and advice to DE&S and Defence Industry.

What does the DE&S PSyA Team do?

  • Where a requirement exists, we assist UK Companies in obtaining List X facility clearance, when contractually required to hold material protectively marked  Confidential or above.
  • We assist UK Companies in verifying the security status of foreign companies and citizens, through liaison with National Security Authorities.
  • We have responsibility for approving the Hand Carriage of protectively marked material being taken overseas, by casual courier.
  • The co-ordination of all international visits, inward and outward; for security cleared UK nationals to MOD, Overseas Government and Defence Industry sites.
  • We are responsible for approving transportation plans relating to the movement of bulky, protectively marked assets travelling within the UK and overseas.
  • We sponsor personnel security clearances for companies undergoing the List X process.
