Welcome to the DVA website.
We are the UK's largest government organisation carrying out National Security Vetting (NSV), and the only government organisation whose core business is NSV.
Within the defence community we provide NSV through direct financing to the three Armed Services, MOD civil service, and defence contractors.
We also deliver a range of NSV services on a repayment basis to a growing community of customers across the public sector. We have more repayment customers than any other UK NSV organisation.
Our customers are provided with assurances ranging from site admission to unrestricted access to material classified up to Top Secret. This assurance can be tailored to individual risk management needs. We also provide a service of help and customer engagement through visits and group open days to support this work.
Service Personnel and MOD employees working with children/vulnerable adults
A Government announcement on 15 June 2010 suspended the launch of the ISA Registration system pending a full review of the Vetting & Barring Scheme (VBS).
The only impact of this on the MOD is to:
- a. Suspend the requirement to request an ISA registration.
- b. Remove the need to phase in reviews for existing persons in Regulated Employment from 01 April 2011.
- c. The increase in fees has been also suspended pending the review.
The introduction of the new application form is still going ahead and is to be used exclusively from 01 July 2010. Guidance on the completion of the new application form is available from the CRB website www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk but it is emphasised that no attempt should be made to complete Section A, Question 28 or Section D, Questions 50 to 54. 5 year reviews can now continue to be applied for normally.
The requirement to refer under the VBS remains extant and further information will be released when the full impact on the VBS is known.
NEW – Cerberus Case Management System
Cerberus Case Management System. A totally new National Security Vetting (NSV) system is to be introduced. The way we accept vetting applications and the way they are processed will be changing later this year. In concert with the Cabinet Office, the DVA is introducing a new Case Management System (CMS) which will be known as Cerberus. Cerberus will improve the vetting process for both sponsors and applicants. Sponsors, however, will require an account prior to being able to submit applications. To read more, follow the Cerberus link on the right.
