About the Cadet Forces

The Cadet Forces are made up of:

  • the Combined Cadet Force (CCF)
  • the Sea Cadet Corps (SCC)
  • the Army Cadet Force (ACF)

Cadets have the opportunity to learn new skills and engage in adventurous activities in disciplined and well-structured organisations. They can also work towards a range of qualifications based on their achievements. Some of these qualifications equate to 4 GCSEs at A*- C level (Standard grades at levels 1-3 in Scotland).and can help with future education and careers.

The Cadet Forces could not exist without the support of adult volunteers who help run meetings, activities and events. Currently there are more than 25,000 adult volunteers in the UK, giving young people the opportunity to get involved in activities ranging from canoeing to rock climbing, map reading and flying, to first aid and The Duke of Edinburgh's Awards.

They too can gain nationally-recognised qualifications for their cadet work, ranging from NVQs through to the equivalent of a Master's degree.
