There are a number of compensation schemes available to serving and former serving personnel who are injured as a result of their service in the Armed Forces. The scheme that applies to each individual will depend on when and where you served. Please see the information below and the links on the right hand side of this page.
The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme
You can claim under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme where the illness or injury was caused as a result of service on or after 6 April 2005. You do not need to have left the Armed Forces before claiming. Please click on the link on the right hand side under Related Pages for more details.
The Criminal Injuries Compensation (Overseas) Scheme
You can claim under the Criminal Injuries Compensation (Overseas) Scheme if you or your eligible dependants are the innocent victim of a crime of violence while serving overseas. Please click on the link on the right hand side under Related Pages for more details.
The War Pensions Scheme
You can claim under the War Pensions Scheme if you are no longer serving and your disablement was caused as a result of service in the Armed Forces before 6 April 2005. Please click on the link on the right hand side under External Links for more details.
The Central Advisory Committee on Pensions and Compensation
The Central Advisory Committee on Pensions and Compensation (CAC) acts as a policy advisory and consultative body for all service pension and compensation issues. The CAC meets twice yearly and is chaired by the Minister for Defence Personnel Welfare and Veterans. Please click on the link on the right hand side for more details.
