In November 2000 the then Under-Secretary of State for Defence announced in a written Parliamentary answer that, among other steps being taken to address reports of ill-health among Porton Down volunteers (PDV), the Government would be seeking advice from the Medical Research Council (MRC) on an independent epidemiological study.
