Eastbury House the Morning After the Fire. Built in 1820 - Destroyed in February 1969.

The RAF Coastal Command record book entry for February 1969 reads:-

"In the early hours of Thursday, 20th February1969, the Officers' Mess at Royal Air Force Northwood was destroyed by fire".

Eight fire appliances from Watford and Bushey attended the fire.

As from the 21st February 1969 all living in members had their meals served in the Junior Ranks Dining Hall.

On the 24th February 1969 an on "site" discussion was held at Moor Park Golf Club to discuss messing arrangements there and it was agreed that Officers from Northwood would take their meals there with effect from the 3rd March 1969…..
